Great question! To begin with, hiring a full-time senior-level designer costs over $100,000 annually, along with benefits (if you can find one available). Additionally, there might not always be sufficient work to keep them consistently busy, meaning you end up paying for idle time.
With the monthly plan, you have the flexibility to pause and resume your subscription as needed, ensuring you only pay your designer when there’s actual work for them.
Once you’re subscribed, you have the liberty to include as many design requests as you desire in your queue, and they will be delivered one after the other.
The average completion time for most requests is two days or less. However, it’s worth noting that more complex requests might extend the turnaround time.
Surprisingly, Backstory functions as a 2-person agency. This ensures direct interaction with us, the founders of Backstory. However, when it comes to power-up requests like animations or custom illustrations, we rely on the expertise of partner designers.
We get it – your design needs may not require a full month’s worth of service, perhaps just one or two requests for now. That’s where the flexibility of pausing your subscription proves useful.
Billing cycles follow a 31-day pattern. Imagine you sign up and actively use the service for 21 days, then decide to pause your subscription. In this scenario, the billing cycle pauses, leaving you with 10 days of service available to be utilized at any later date.
Most design requests are executed using Figma.
There’s a wealth of flexibility in how you request designs using Trello. Clients often submit design requests directly on Trello, share Google Docs or wireframes, or opt for a brief Loom video for a more visual approach to briefs. In essence, if it can be linked or shared in Trello, it’s an acceptable method.
Don’t stress! We’ll make revisions to the design until you are 100% happy with it.
We do not handle the following design tasks: 3D modeling, animated graphics (GIFs, etc.), document design (medical forms, etc.), intricate packaging, and comprehensive print design (magazines, books, etc.).
That’s okay. If you’ve completed your current design needs, you can pause your subscription and come back when you have more. Don’t let the remaining subscription time go unused.
